Broos – Some Bafana Players Will Be Dropped
Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has revealed that some of the players from his squad were not good enough and will be dropped from the next selection.
The 69-year-old started his reign as Bafana coach with four points from his first two FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Ghana.
However, despite the positive results, Broos has confirmed that some players who were part of his initial squad will be dropped due to various reasons.
“I had nearly 10 days to observe the team, to observe the players that were with us,” he said on the Ultimate Sport Show.
“I can tell you now that some guys will not be there anymore. For some it is because of quality, for some it is the attitude, for some it is what I saw in training because this is also very important.
“Therefor I will take the decision for the games against Ethiopia that some players will not be part of the squad anymore.
“We will try to look for players that are better than those who are there now. But not for all, there were things that were very good and things that I want to go on in the games against Ethiopia.
“But on the other side, the group of 23 players, there will be changes, that’s for sure.”
Broos also confirmed that he is leaving the country due to some paper work that needs to be done in Belgium.
“I have to go to Belgium for my work permit,” he added.
“I have to go to the South African embassy in Brussels to give some documents and to receive some documents and then I’ll come back to South Africa to have my work permit.
“I’m two weeks in Belgium.”
Bafana Bafana will face Ethiopia in a double-header during the international break in October after picking up four points in their first two qualifiers.
