Kaizer Chiefs and Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly have learned who will be their CAF Champions League semi-final opponents.
The Glamour Boys booked qualified for their first ever semi-finals of the competition earlier on Saturday despite losing 3-0 to Simba S.C.
The 4-0 first-leg victory ensured that Amakhosi progressed 4-3 on aggregate and are now the only South African team left in the competition.
Chiefs will face Wydad Casablanca in the semi-finals after they eliminated MC Alger 2-1 on aggregate thanks to a 93rd minute 1-0 winner in the second leg.
Gavin Hunt’s men already played Wydad in the group stages, losing 4-0 away from home before beating them 1-0 in South Africa.
The other quarter-final between Esperance and Belouizdad went into penalties after the home side were leading 2-0 after 90 minutes, cancelling out their 2-0 first-leg defeat.
Esperance won the subsequent penalty shoutout and will now face Mosimane’s Al Ahly in the second semi-final.
The semi-finals will be played on 18 and 25 June, with the Champions League final date set to take place on 17 July in Morocco.
