Barcelona presidential candidate Emili Rousaud has suggested that if he gets elected, Camp Nou could be be-renamed after Lionel Messi.
With the new president set to be elected in January, and with Messi rumoured to be possibly leaving the club, Rousaud has put forward the suggestion, with possible hopes that Messi will decide to stay put.
“We will hold a referendum to change the name of the stadium to Camp Nou – Leo Messi,” Rousad told reporters.
Rousad also wants to bring Neymar back to the club.
“We’re going to sign two top players, one of them is Neymar.”
“We are working to bring him back to Barcelona if he withdraws the lawsuit he has against the club.”
“We hope to be able to announce soon the name of the other big-name player we want to bring.”
“It will not leave anyone indifferent. We have a direct line to the player.”
