EFF Release Statement On Pitso-Downs’ Fans Clash

South African political party, EFF have released a statement condemning the actions and insults made against Pitso Mosimane and his mother on Saturday.

The South African coach, now in charge of Al Ahly, received a negative welcome back to Lucas Moripe Stadium ahead of the game, while he was also insulted throughout the match from someone in the stands.

‘Jingles’, who was visibly emotional after the game, addressed these issues in his post-match press conference.

The EFF have now given their support to Mosimane, condemning the insults “the best coach in Africa” as well as his mother received.

“In a sports code that never gives black coaches room to strive Pitso Mosimane has managed to achieve the unthinkable from the dusty streets of South Africa to (become) the best coach in Africa,” reads a part of the statement.

In addition, the EFF have called “on SAFA and CAF to fine Mamelodi Sundowns and those fans to be fined and handed punishments for the incident which took place in order to curb this kind of hooliganism and unsportlike behaviour.

“The EFF will write to the CAF and SAFA demanding appropriate action to be taken against Sundowns.

“The EFF is proud of coach Pitso Mosimane and continues to rally with excitement his successful career at the top level. Coach Pitso Mosimane must not be discouraged by this, may he remain strong and know that as the EFF we are very proud of him.”
