Emotional Pitso: They Insulted Me & My Mother
Pitso Mosimane appeared very emotional after Mamelodi Sundowns fans insulted him ahead of the CAF Champions League second leg.
The South African eliminated his former side after drawing the second leg 1-1 to progress 3-1 on aggregate to the semi-finals.
Ahead of the game, though, Masandawana fans were causing a commotion as the Al Ahly came close to the stadium, which clearly upset the club’s former coach.
“I remember the first time I came here with Mamelodi Sundowns to play against SuperSport United, I was emotional, little bit emotional because I spent seven years at SuperSport United but we’re professionals and this is a game of football,” he said at an explosive post-match press conference.
“But I was a little bit emotional only when I saw the placards outside. When they stopped the bus, all these people swearing at me, swearing at my mother.
“I said to myself ‘what else should I have done for this team to get the respect?’
“But it’s football, so I understand and I know the person who did that. I know the person who’s behind it.
“The things I’ve received before the match, from South Africa, to show in my phone, to show in my pics. I’ve received emails, I’ve received… They just don’t want to let me go.
“And those emails are not from supporters, they come from the main office. There is only one person who can allow that, for these emails to come. Emails from lawyers…
“But that I said, it’s for my book. I’ll write a book. I’ve just kept it and I said ‘let bygones be bygones, let me move on’.”
