France superstar Kylian Mbappe has called Les Bleus’ 5-0 drubbing of Bafana Bafana “a nice bit of fun”.
The 23-year-old was the standout performer as the world champions ran riot against Hugo Broos’ side on Tuesday evening in Lille.
After scoring a brace and assisting Matteo Guendozi’s fifth goal, Mbappe took to Instagram to express his delight with the outing against South Africa.
“A nice bit of fun,” he wrote.
Overall, Mbappe has now scored 26 goals for his national team and is far ahead of the tally Thierry Henry – France’s all-time record goalscorer – had at his age.
Henry finished his career on 51 strikes for Les Bleus and Mbappe insisted he’s aiming to break the record.
“Of course it’s an objective, I’ve always wanted to be the first at everything, whether that’s with the French team or in club football,” he said, as per GFF h/t TF1.
“There’s still a long way to go. Nobody’s done what Titi did. I think I can get there much quicker than people think.”
