‘Mosimane Has Stolen Weiler’s Success’

A former Al Ahly player has accused Pitso Mosimane’s of “stealing” former coach Rene Weiler’s success, saying many other coaches would do better than him.

Mosimane and his team are going through rough spell on the back of injuries and a mammoth fixture with a game literally every three days.

As a consequence, the CAF Champions League holders have dropped eight points over the last five league games, losing to Ghazl El Mehalla and Smouha, while also drawing with El Gouna.

‘Pitso Won’t Be At Al Ahly Next Season’

Former Al Ahly star Mostafa Younes used the recent dip in form to hit out at Mosimane, who has often proved his doubters wrong since joining the Egyptian giants in October 2020.

“I said before that I will wait and rate Pitso Mosimane at the end of the first leg of the league, and I discovered that he had stolen René Weiler’s success,” Younes said, as per Kingfut.

“He took Weiler’s job and stole his successes after his departure in the midst of competitions, and any one of Al Ahly’s ‘sons’ is way better than Mosimane.

“No one talks to me about the fatigue problem in Al Ahly. They are the best team in Egypt.

“Al Ahly is used to accept Zamalek’s gifts and take advantage of them and secure the league title.

“However, the new thing this season is not only that Al Ahly reject Zamalek’s gifts, but instead gift them new ones.”

Mosimane lifted the CAF Champions League and Egyptian Cup, while he also added a Egyptian Premier League medal since joining Al Ahly – even though the league title was already secured when Weiler left.

The ‘Club of the Century’, whose management sent an official complaint about the level of refereeing and the club’s heavy fixture schedule to the Egyptian Football Association, will next face fifth-place Al Ittihad, who failed to win any of their last three games.
