Banyana Banyana international Thembi Kgatlana has joined European giants Atletico Madrid, the club confirmed on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old impressed in Spain on the books of SD Eibar last season and now gained an even bigger move.
Kgtalana, who scored 10 goals across 21 appearances in the Primera Division Femenina last season, will now wear the white and red colours of the Rojiblancos until 2023.
“I am very happy to arrive at Atlético de Madrid. As a soccer player you always dream of playing in the best clubs,” Kgatlana told the club’s media department.
“My first goal is to be a team player and work hard for the team. I’m very happy to be able to join you soon, I can’t wait to meet you all.”
Atletico are Kgatlana’s fifth club overseas after stints with Houston Dash, Beijing Phoenix, Benfica and Eibar.
She has represented South Africa over 50 times and was named CAF Women’s Player of the Year in 2018.
