Luc Eymael has finally found a new club in Africa after his attempts to return to the Premier Soccer League flopped twice over the last six months.
The 61-year-old, who was announced as new coach by Chippa United in December 2020 when his move was blocked by SAFA, has joined Tunisian side Stade Tunisien, the club announced on Thursday.
“Luc Eymael, the new coach of the Stade Tunisien. Welcome coach,” the club said in a statement.
Chippa had introduced him towards the end of last year as its new coach but had to reverse the decision following pressure from the country’s football mother body SAFA, as they alleged that they had banned him from coaching in the country due to the racist comments he had made at his last club on the continent, Young Africans SC in Tanzania.
Chippa again tried to appoint Eymael as ‘Technical Advisor’ earlier this year but made a u-turn on their their decision following another public backlash.
Eymael is a former Polokwane City, Free State Stars, Bloemfontein Celtic and Black Leopards head coach. He has also worked at Al-Merreikh, Al-Nasr, Rayon Sports and AFC Leopards, amongst others.
