Official: Solinas Lands New Club In Saudi

Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovani Solinas is on the move yet again, as he has joined what is the 13th club in his long-storied coaching career.

Solinas has joined Saudi Arabia First Division side Al-Najmah, having left Al-Failsaly, who he joined in March this year.

He battled with former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane, who had the last laugh to end up promoting Ali Ahli before departing.

Solinas previously coached Free State Stars twice – from December 2015 until May the following year and also September 2016 until January 2017.

In the first stint, he took Stars to the Nedbank Cup semi-final, losing to runners-up Orlando Pirates.

He was then appointed by Kaizer Chiefs in June 2018 but was sacked in December of the same year, having won just seven matches out of 20 he was in charge.

Solinas, the only Italian to have coached in the PSL so far, will hope to follow Mosimane to gain promotion in the Saudi First Division, so he can play in the Saudi Arabia Pro League next season where players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Jordan Henderson, Karim Benzema, Fabinho and Sadio Mane currently ply their trade having all gone there in what is shaping up to be a money-spinning league.
