Opposition Coach On Pitso – I’m Happy For Him

RS Berkane head coach Juan Pedro Benali says he was “really happy” for Pitso Mosimane to lift the CAF Super Cup.

The 52-year-old is a close friend of Mosimane but saw his side lose 2-0 to Al Ahly on Friday night.

However, despite the “painful” defeat, Benali found kind words for his opponent on the touchline.

“To lose is always painful. I’m happy for him,” he told media.

“But it takes some pressure to take the championship but that’s football. We have pressure also.

“We wanted to win this trophy. We’ve worked for it, but of course in the end some details made the difference.

“But I’m really happy for him.”

Benali felt his side came close to beating the CAF Champions League winners, but small mistakes made the difference on the night.

“Little points made the difference, especially when you play against a big team with quality players like Ahly.

“Little, little mistakes and they scored. We had our chances. Al Ahly could’ve seen a red card in the first half, but this is football, it didn’t happen.

“Second half, we did a mistake and they scored.”

Mosimane has now lifted four trophies since joining Al Ahly, namely the Egyptian League, the Egyptian Cup, the CAF Champions League and the CAF Super Cup.
