Pitso & Al Ahly Punished By Egypt FA
Pitso Mosimane and Al Ahly as well as rivals Zamalek and captain Shikabala received fines from the Egyptian FA for their behaviour in and around the recent Cairo derby.
The South African was fined 20 thousand Egyptian Pounds (R17 835) for his comments in the post-match press conference, criticising the the Egyptian FA (EFA) for the club’s heavy fixture schedule.
‘Jingles’ had questioned the scheduling of a Cairo derby ahead of the club’s important CAF Champions League clashes with Mamelodi Sundowns, despite Al Ahly representing Egypt at the FIFA Club World Cup earlier in the year and being the only domestic side left in the Champions League.
But Mosimane wasn’t the only one to receive fines by EFA, with both clubs being fined for member of their technical teams and substitutes celebrating their side’s respective goals on the pitch, while Zamalek captain Shikabala was fined and banned for two matches for unsporting behaviour.

“The competitions department of the Egyptian Football Federation decided to fine Al Ahly for 50,000 pounds for members of the technical staff and some substitutes entering the field to celebrate the achievement of a goal.
“Another 50 thousand pounds for collective reasons against one of the elements of the game, 20 thousand for collective objection from the technical staff, and 20 thousand for coach Pitso Mosimane for what he said in his speech during the press conference.
“The competition management also decided to fine of Zamalek 50 thousand pounds for gettinfg their technical staff and some substitutes on the field to celebrate the achievement of a goal.
“Plus another 50 thousand for repeated collective objection from the technical staff, and EFA also suspended the player Mahmoud Abdul Razek “Chikabala” for two games and a fine of 50 thousand pounds for non-sports behavior.”
