Pitso Compares Downs Star To Kante
One of Mamelodi Sundowns’ stars has received high praise from Pitso Mosimane, who compared him to Chelsea superstar N’Golo Kante.
The former Masandawana coach spoke after his side’s 2-0 first-leg victory in the CAF Champions League quarter-final over his old team.
After the game, Mosimane was asked by iDiski Times’ senior writer Velile Mnyandu about the performance of Sphelele Mkhulise, whose threats Al Ahly seemed to have covered well.
“He’s a player I’ve promoted from the youth team and I loaned him out to division two to get experience and I brought him back to come and play, because I saw he’s ready.
“In my opinion, Velile, we did not neutralise him. He reminds me of [N’Golo] Kante of Chelsea. He is a top player. He is an unbelievable player. An [Andres] Iniesta, I’ve always said it.”
Mkhulise has made 27 appearances for Sundowns in all competitions this season, with eight of them coming in the CAF Champions League.
Overall, the 25-year-old has represented the club 65 times and his next match could be the second leg against Al Ahly at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday.
