Pitso Doesn’t Want To Repeat Pep Mistake Vs Downs

Pitso Mosimane has explained why he does not want to repeat what happened to Pep Guardiola when he faces his former side Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 56-year-old and his new team will host Masandawana in the first leg of their CAF Champions League quarter-final in Cairo on Saturday.

The South African has faced some criticism in Egypt after winning just three of his last seven league games in the Egyptian premier League.

Al Ahly’s attention will now switch onto their clash with Downs and ‘Jingles’ has insisted that he wants to avoid what happened to Pep Guardiola with Bayern Munich in the 2014/15 UEFA Champions League, when his former side FC Barcelona eliminated him from the competition.

“Sundowns is a strong team. I made us a monster, and now it wants to defeat me, but this is football,” he said, as per Kingfut.

“Guardiola faced Barcelona when he was coaching Bayern Munich and lost against them. I hope not to do the same.”

Mosimane also reacted a bit annoyed when asked whether his side was distracted by the Sundowns clash in the recent 1-1 draw in the Cairo derby

“Did anyone say that? We focused on the Zamalek match and will focus on the Sundowns meeting when its time comes.”
