Pitso Keeps 100% Record In Egyptian Cup

Pitso Mosimane and Al Ahly have continued their good form in Egypt, keeping their 100% win record in the domestic cup alive on Wednesday night.

The ‘Club of the Century’ escaped a potential banana peel against second division side Al Nasr in the round of 32 thanks to a late winner.

Walter Bwalya was the man of the night after scoring a seven from time to send his team in the round of 16.

Walid Soliman had scored the opener for ‘Jingles’ men, netting in stoppage time of the opening 45 minutes.

Al Ahly, though, struggled throughout large parts of the game after Mosimane lined up a much-changed team, with only Ramy Rabia remaining in his starting XI in comparison to their CAF Champions League win over Simba.

As a consequence, Al Nasr found the 1-1 equaliser nine minutes into the second half, with the defending champions having to dig deep to find a winner.

But Bwalya managed to net from close range in the 83rd minute to keep Mosimane’s 100% win record in the Egyptian Cup alive and spare his side some blushes.

Al Ahly, who have seven games in hand in the Egyptian league due to their involvement in the FIFA Club World Cup and the CAF Champions League, will face bitter rivals Zamalek in a much-expected Cairo derby on Sunday.

Zamalek themselves have four games in hand and are leading the log with four points over second-placed Al Masry, with Al Ahly currently sitting in fourth place, six points behind the White Knights.
