Pitso Points To Mistakes Of Downs Coaches

Pitso Mosimane has pointed to the wrong substitutes made by Mamelodi Sundowns’ three coaches, saying it was “the best thing to happen to him”.

The South African took part in a very emotional press conference after Masandawana fans insulted him and his mother ahead of the match.

The issue has since been addressed by SAFA, who want to get to the bottom of it, while Downs issued an apology to Al Ahly and its associated staff members.

Mosimane, though, also spoke out on the substitutes of Manqoba Mngqithi, Rulani Mokwena and Steve Komphela.

“I don’t want to sound boastful and dismantling teams, Mamelodi Sundowns and showing where I think Mamelodi Sundowns went wrong or right,” he said.

“But for me when Themba Zwane goes out, Sirino goes out, Thapelo (Morena) goes out. Those are the problem people. You could see in the first half, how they interplayed.

“When you bring different personal, of course you have to cross the ball and when you cross the ball, I’ve got big boys and a big goalkeeper and I was happy with that. That’s what I want.

“That for me was the best thing to ever, ever happen.”

Al Ahly will now face Tunisian giants Esperance in the semi-final, while they will face Moroccan side RS Berkane in the CAF Super Cup on Friday.
