Pitso Reacts To Ramaphosa Message
Pitso Mosimane has reacted to a message from South Africa president Cyril Ramaphosa who had congratulated him on the CAF Super Cup triumph.
The South African tactician led Al Ahly to a 2-0 victory over CAF Confederations Cup champions RS Berkane in Doha on Friday.
It was Mosimane’s third trophy with the Egyptian giants after already lifting the CAF Champions League and the Egyptian Cup. Mosimane also collected a Premier League medal, but the domestic league title had already been secured before ‘Jingles’ arrived in Cairo.
Nonetheless, Mosimane has done an incredible job since taking over the ‘Club of the Century’ and secured his second continental double on Friday, which led to Ramaphosa congratulating the coach.
“Pitso Mosimane is an outstanding flag-bearer for our country and for football,” the president said in a statement.
“His outstanding performance and that of his club shows what is possible when talent moves freely around our continent to unite people from diverse backgrounds and national origin and inspire them to achieve extraordinary things.”
Ramaphosa’s words were appreciated by Mosimane after the events at Alteridgeville on 22 May, when a selection of Mamelodi Sundowns insulted their former coach and his mother.
“The President has spoken. Ndo livhuwa @PresidencyZA, @CyrilRamaphosa, for acknowledging my humble contribution in the Continent. I am inspired by your words,” Mosimane said on social media.
