Players Absent From Broos’ Bafana Squad

After Hugo Broos announced his first Bafana Bafana squad, here are the players who were not selected by the new coach.

The 69-year-old selected 19 players for the upcoming friendly game against Uganda on 10 June at the Orlando Stadium.

Broos, who had promised to revamp the squad and give young players a chance, was unable to pick many of the U23 players because the Olympics squad will be in a camp in Dubai.

As a consequence, the Belgian coach gave several new players their maiden call-up, while several others from the previous squad of Molefi Ntseki missed out.

Among those omissions are previous captain Thulani Hlatshwayo, while Itumeleng Khune was also not selected.

Overseas-based trio Thulani Serero, Bongani Zungu and Dean Furman also missed out, as did Ruzaigh Gamildien and Bradley Grobler.

Here are all players who were not picked by Broos:

Goalkeepers: Itumeleng Khune, Veli Mothwa

Defenders: S’fiso Hlanti, Thulani Hlatshwayo, Thibang Phete, Siyanda Xulu

Midfielders: Dean Furman, Andile Jali, Ben Motshwari, Thulani Serero, Luther Singh, Bongani Zungu, Themba Zwane, Thabo Nodada

Forwards: Kermit Erasmus, Lyle Foster, Ruzaigh Gamildien, Bradley Grobler

Other omissions who’ve been called up recently:

Ricardo Goss, Darren Keet, Lyle Lakay, Abbubaker Mobara, Lebogang Manyama, Kamohelo Mokotjo, Vincent Pule
