Victor Font, one of the candidates looking to replace Josep Bartomeu at FC Barcelona, has outlined his plan to bring legends such as Xavi and Pep Guardiola back to the club.
Barca are undergoing an overhaul after a disastrous end to their last campaign, which also saw Lionel Messi stating that he wanted to leave the club.
Ronald Koeman has also been appointed as the new manager, but a new board at the club could mean that his job is already under pressure.
In an interview with Football Daily, Font said, “People like Pep Guardiola, Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Carles Puyol. All these people do not work for Barca today. It doesn’t make any sense.
“We need to bring them back, we need to give them the right responsibilities. By doing that, we will ensure that we have a very competitive project, which is the only thing that Lionel Messi needs.
“Messi needs to understand that he is part of a very competitive project that aspires to win the next Champions League.”
