Potter Reacts To Tau Olympics Call-Up
Brighton & Hove Albion coach Graham Potter has reacted to Percy Tau’s call-up for South Africa’s preliminary Olympics squad.
The Young Lion was one of seven overaged players who were included in David Notoane’s 40-man squad, with only three of them being allowed to be part of the final selection.
Tau’s Brighton coach has now come out and said he would support his player’s participation at the tournament in Tokyo later this year.
“We’ll speak with Percy, but if a player is selected for his country then we’re happy for that,” Potter said in a press conference ahead of his side’s clash against Chelsea.
“It’s a big moment in his career and for his family, so I’d say yes (he can go) and I’d be happy for him and then it’s just about what he wants to do as well.”
If Tau would go to the Olympics, he would likely miss large parts of pre-season with his Premier League club.
Meanwhile, the draw for the tournament will take place on Wednesday when Ama-glugglug will find out who they will face at the tournament.
