Potter – Why Tau Missed Chelsea Clash

Brighton & Hove Albion coach Graham Potter has revealed why Percy Tau missed Tuesday’s Premier League clash against Chelsea despite returning from his COVID-19 quarantine.

The Seagulls coach recently backed Tau to take part in the Olympics and now explained that Tau missed out on the squad for the 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge due to a small injury issue.

“Everybody came through the (Chelsea) game okay,” he said on Thursday, as quoted by Ben Dinnery.

“There’s a couple of lads we need to monitor.

“Percy Tau had a tight hamstring, so that’s why he missed out on the group against Chelsea.”

Tau was now absent from the squad for the last three league games after having to go into a 10-day self-quarantine upon his return from national team duty, while he was an unused substitute in the previous 10 EPL matches.

He made his last Premier League appearance for Brighton on 16 January and has only featured five times for the club since returning from his loan at RSC Anderlecht in January.
