Percy Tau made his English Premier League debut for Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday, as he played 67 minutes in the 1-0 loss to Manchester City.
As expected, City dominated the possession in the first half, and Tau didn’t get to see much of the ball in the first half.
However the few times he did, he looked confident and dangerous, making a few good runs when given the opportunity.
The domination by Pep Guardiola’s team finally paid off and Phil Foden opened the scoring in the 44th minute.
The second half saw much of the same, and it was the heroics of Sanchez that kept Brighton in the game.
Tau was removed in the 67th minute, and will be pleased with his first run out. While opportunities were limited, he didn’t do much wrong.
City were awarded a penalty in stoppage time after Sanchez brought Kevin de Bruyne down in the box. Raheem Sterling shot over though, as City failed to add to the goal from the first half.
While Brighton lost, there certainly good signs for the strugglers, and especially Tau’s performance for their new South African fans.
