Official: UCL Last 16 Draw To Be Redone

The UEFA Champions League round of 16 draw will be retaken after a massive blunder in the initial draw procedure.

The draw featured the 16 teams that advanced from the UEFA Champions League group stage, the group winners were seeded and the runners-up were unseeded.

There was a blunder in the draw for a first time in many years as Villarreal and Manchester United, who are from the same group, were drawn together before the latter was replaced by Manchester City.

United were later drawn against Paris Saint-Germain, but the draw will be retaken because United were not placed back into the right pot after the were initially drawn against Villarreal.

UEFA have confirmed that the draw has been declared void and will be retaken at 16:00, SA time.

Below are the initial UCL last 16 fixtures:

Benfica vs Real Madrid

Villarreal vs Manchester City

Atletico Madrid vs Bayern Munich

FC Salzburg vs Liverpool

Inter Milan vs Ajax Amsterdam

Sporting vs Juventus

Chelsea vs Lille

Paris Saint-Germain vs Manchester United

The away goals rule has fallen away, so ties level after 180 minutes will go to extra time irrespective of the number of goals each team has scored at home and away. If the teams still cannot be separated after the additional 30 minutes, the tie goes to a penalty shoot-out.

The first legs are scheduled for 15/16/22/23 February, with the second legs on 8/9/15/16 March. Kick-offs are at 21:00 CET.
