Xavi’s First Words As Barca Coach

Xavi Hernandez has been unveiled as new coach of FC Barcelona on Monday and was welcomed by several thousands of fans at the Camp Nou.

The former captain returned to the club after leaving in 2015 to join Al Sadd, where he finished off his career before hanging up his boots and becoming manager.

The 41-year-old was appointed by the Blaugrana and signed a two-and-a-half year deal and was presented at the Camp Nou in front of several thousand of the club’s fans.

“Thank you very much, thanks to the management,” a visibly emotional Xavi said as the fans chanted his name in the stadium.

“I don’t want to be too emotional, I can just say one thing, we are the best club in the world and we’re going to work hard to win many titles. Barca cannot draw or lose, we’re going to win many games.

“Thank you very much, this is an emotional moment for me. Visca el Barca.

“We are in a difficult moment for the club – financially and on the pitch. So we need you fans more than ever.”

“Welcome Xavi, welcome back home. It’s a very emotional day today,” said club president Joan Laporta.
