Chiefs Legends Welcome Back Big Amakhosi Star

Kaizer Chiefs Legends will welcome back Doctor ’16V’ Khumalo when they take on Bloemfontein Celtics Legends as part of the inaugural Toyota Cup.

Amakhosi announced their legends squad earlier in the week and it is picked with big names from the club’s glorious past.

Among them is also Khumalo, who returns after recovering from a hamstring injury he picked up during the team’s 3-2 triumph over Orlando Pirates Legends, played in Malamulele the Limpopo Province in July last year.

“I have been training since my injury healed. I have played some games and I am ready to take on Celtic,” stated Khumalo, who underwent an operation last year.

’16V’ also expressed his confidence in the new technical team around Nasreddine Nabi, saying he expects a better Amakhosi in 2024/25.

“Let us support the team. I believe that this season will be a totally different ball-game, and Amakhosi are back.

“Come and support the legends and the first team. This is where the journey starts. We crawl now, and we will be sprinting later, come the 2024-25 season.”

Meanwhile, Chiefs legends head coach Thabo Mooki also expressed his excitement for the team’s first game since beating Orlando Pirates Legends on penalties in mid-May in KwaZulu-Natal.

“The event is exciting,” he explained.

“All the guys want to be part of the team. We have a good camaraderie and it’s always good to catch up.

“The win in Richards Bay is a positive one for us. We were well-structured in that game against Pirates.

“We entertained the fans, and we hope to do so again on Sunday in Bloemfontein.”
