Northern Cape provincial government has donated R3 million to Motsepe Foundation Championship side Hungry Lions.
With finances becoming an issue in the National First Division, Northern Cape Premier Dr Zamani Paul handed a cheque worth R3 Million worthto Ditau di a Rora as a donation that will help the club run their operations.
This was confirmed on the social media platforms by both the government and the club.
Finances have been troubling Second Division sides, with some teams not being able to pay their players on time.
At the beginning of the season, All Stars FC relocated to Johannesburg from Cape Town as they were trying to cut costs in travelling since most of the teams are based up north.
Lions started the season very well as they sitting third in the standings four points behind log leaders Polokwane City, unfortunately they didn’t make it into the Nedbank Cup last 32.
The Northern Cape-based side will have a full focus on the automatic promotion despite losing their last two games against Casric Stars and Cape Town Spurs.
