Mayambela To Get SAFA Gig

The South African Football Association is set to rope in Cape Town City U16 coach Mark Mayambela as the U17 assistant coach, iDiski Times has learnt.

Mayambela completed his UEFA B Licence in March 2023 under the Northern Ireland football association, and he recently completed his CAF B Licence in Lesotho.

The 36-year-old will start his UEFA A Licence this year, as he continues his coaching journey.

The former Orlando Pirates dribbling wizard led City U16 to win the HBUFC Stanley Matthews tournament in March last year. Two years ago, he also guided the Citizens to win Engen Knockout Challenge U18 alongside Byron Cottle.

News reaching iDiski Times now is that SAFA are set to appoint Mayambela as assistant coach to David Nyathi for the South African U17 team.

On Friday, the associations showed some images of Mayambela and others, who were taking part in a “National Coaches Methodology” workshop at SAFA House.

Goodman Mazibuko, who also played for Pirates and Moroka Swallows, has been rumored to also be part of the technical team as well.
