Maimane Alfred Phiri has given an update after being discharged from hospital, thanking South Africans for their support.
Maimane, who has not commented on the incident, as it is still under police investigation, sent thanks for all the support he and his family received over a difficult two week period.
The 47-year-old former Jomo Cosmos midfielder, who also spent six years in Turkey, won 13 caps for his country. The Alexandra-born player also played locally for Moroka Swallows, Ajax Cape Town and SuperSport United.
