Zimbabwe national team captain Knowledge Musona has expressed his gratitude after the support the team has received from the government ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

Musona who joined the rest of the team for training on Thursday in Yaoundé, was speaking after the players received their salaries as they prepare for the tournament.

The skipper said the players are now motivated and ready to fight for the country – and emphasized that they are grateful to the government.

“I would like to thank the Sports and Recreation Commission (government) for their support in paying players’ allowances on time and the camping of the team in Cameroon since 30 December 2021,” Musona said.

“This means a lot to us as players, and we really appreciate it. As players, we are extremely grateful because it shows us how deeply our government cares about us and football.

“It will motivate us to do well and fight for the country as we always do. The team can now fully focus on preparing for the tournament without any destruction.

“We are extremely grateful.”

The Warriors will face Senegal on Monday in Group B before preparing for Malawi and Guinea respectively.
