All Systems Go For DStv Compact Cup

Saturday will see the first ever DStv Compact Cup kick off, as the four select teams compete in the semi-finals at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

The competition, which has seen fans vote for the players to be included, was announced last year by the Premier Soccer League.

Each of the four teams is made up from players from four DStv Premiership sides. Having first voted for players to be included in the squads, last week voting ended for the starting line-ups.

The first semi-final between Coastal United and Dinaledi will kick off at 3pm tomorrow, before Warriors take on Amabutho at 6pm.

“This is a really good initiative by the sponsors (DStv), more especially if you consider the fact that fans have not been in the stadium for a very long time due to the pandemic,” Warriors coach, Dylan Kerr said at the pre-match press conference on Thursday.

“This has allowed them to be a part of the team and more importantly, have a say and influence on the game.”

“It is important for us to give the fans the respect that they deserve and this can only be through displaying good performances,” Coastal United captain Thabo Nodada said.

“All the players that have been selected are here because fans made the effort of voting. This simply means that each and every player that is here cannot afford to take this competition lightly.

“It is also quite encouraging that all the players are present in camp are indeed raring to go on Saturday.”
