Orlando Pirates winger Oswin Appollis has reacted to his Man of the Match award in his side’s 3-0 victory over Magesi FC in the league crediting his teammates for a good fight on the night.
Appollis contributed to Pirates’ opening goal at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday and also scored the winner from the penalty spot to help the Buccaneers seal an important victory.
The win ensured they closed in on Mamelodi Sundowns in top spot on the Betway Premiership standings by three points and a game in hand.
Meanwhile, the goal was the April Player of the Month’s ninth in the league this season, four goals from current leader Junior Dion of Golden Arrows.
Appollis appreciated the fight from his teammates and the team spirit saying it’s the one thing that has attracted players to join Pirates.
“It’s a very important three points you know,” said Appollis on Orlando Pirates TV.
“Today [Saturday], the boys fought today and I’m happy for the overall squad even the impact players that came on that helped us with more energy.
“And we wanted to score more goals, but 3-0, we take it and focus on the next game. All thanks to my teammates for sharing the ball with me, I share with them, so it’s a team effort.
“You know, that’s why we as players, there’s more players signing in the squad is because of the team.”
