Baxter – How Dolly Earned Bafana Recall

Kaizer Chiefs winger Keagan Dolly has proven why he deserves to represent Bafana Bafana again, according to head coach Stuart Baxter.

Dolly, 28, joined Chiefs in the off-season as their marquee signing after four years in Ligue 1 with Montpellier but question marks surrounded his physical fitness.

However, his three goals and three assists in his last four league games and leaner figure have seemingly won the faith of Bafana boss Hugo Broos who named him in the final 24-man squad to face Zimbabwe and Ghana in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Baxter has lauded the decision, claiming Dolly has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to get back into the national team fold.

“With Keagan, I think it’s absolutely warranted, he’s been excellent in the games, he’s worked very very hard and he’s showed since he came back from France, that he’s not one of these [guys] who has a bit of experience abroad and therefore come back and show everyone how clever he is,” he told the media.

“He’s putting in serious shifts as the stats would show, I’m sure that’s something that’s something in the thoughts of Hugo.”

Dolly has made 19 appearances for the senior South Africa national team, scoring three goals and registering six assists since making his debut under Shakes Mashaba in 2014.
