Billiat – No Room for Emotions Against Bafana
Zimbabwe and Kaizer Chiefs star Khama Billiat says there’s no room for emotions as they hold the power to derail the hopes of Bafana Bafana qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
South Africa face their bordering neighbours this evening in a crucial qualifier as they need four points to guarantee progression to the final play-off round for Qatar 2022.
Seven members of the 23-man squad called up for the FIFA International break by former Chippa United head coach Norman Mapeza are based in South Africa and while Billiat is mindful of the connection – he’s clear that they are professionals as he looks to lead his side to victory at the venue he calls home with Chiefs.
“It’s part of the journey, these things happen and we have to accept it, we have to be ready mentally, physically and control our emotions aside you know – with that fact that we know most of the guys, we’re friends and colleagues, workmates,” Billiat told iDiski Times.
“We just have to be professional and as I said, we grateful to be playing this kind of pitch, you know, with the great reception we always get here. It’s a blessing and hopefully, it’s going to be a good game for both teams.”
Billiat is likely to start on the left-side of a new-look Warriors front-three this evening when they face off against Bafana at FNB Stadium this evening (21h00).
