Broos Explains The Importance Of Dolly At Bafana

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has explained the importance of in-form Kaizer Chiefs star Keagan Dolly for the national the team, saying his qualities will help them.

Dolly has been influential at his respective club recently, having scored five goals and assisted three times in 10 DStv Premiership games so far.

Broos has now explained that Dolly is at the team to help South Africa in the next two important World Cup Qualifiers games.

“The reason why he is here is because he is playing otherwise he would not be here,” Broos told reporters.

“And I know he is very confident for the moment. If you score, if you give final passes to score, then you’re a player in confidence. And with the qualities that Keagan has, he can help us a lot.

“So I hope that he can keep the shape. And that he will be very important for us in those two games. He has the qualities for us, he can score, he can give the final pass.”

Broos also explained that he already wanted to invite Dolly for his very first game against Uganda but the player had to reject the call-up because his wife was giving birth.

“So I’m very happy with him, and I’m happy that he is back because three months ago, or four months ago when I selected him for Uganda, his wife gives birth to his daughter,” he added.

“So when he asked me not to come, and I think it was normal, that he has to be with his wife and not with the team.

“But then I lost him, I didn’t know where he was, and I read for some weeks ago from coach (Stuart) Baxter that he worked a lot, and you see the result, so I’m very happy with him.”

South Africa will host Zimbabwe at FNB Stadium on Thursday before they travel to Ghana to battle the Black Stars on Sunday.
