Broos – We Don’t Have To Look At Ghana

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has insisted his side only need to look at themselves and not care about what Ghana does against Ethiopia.

The Belgian tactician has brought hope and confidence back to the national team and helped Bafana climb to the top of Group G ahead of the final two FIFA World Cup qualifiers of this round.

As it stands, South Africa have their fate in their own hands and Broos insisted the team must only focus on Zimbabwe and forget about what Ghana does against Ethiopia.

“We struggled, we suffered against Ethiopia. Let’s hope they can make a similar performance against Ghana,” he told reporters.

“Maybe that Ghana can lose some points, you never know. But again tomorrow for us, that is important. What Ghana does, we don’t have to look at it.”

Broos also insisted that many things have already changed and he hopes this new team can avoid a similar heartbreak to previous groups who failed to qualify for tournament at the last hurdle.

However, he also underlined that in case Bafana would not top the group in the end, it would not be a disaster.

“I said it already, we started hesitating on the qualifiers, then we had a good game against Ghana,” he added.

“We won two times in total different way. We did already some things that we didn’t do before and I always give the example of the game against Sudan.

“There was a game, only one point needed but it was not such a good game of Bafana Bafana. So we are now a little bit in the same situation.

“Tomorrow, ok we have to win, this is something different. But then the game in Ghana, if we are going there with one point ahead, so we will also need one point.

“That will be test case for us for the team. And I repeat again what I said before the qualifiers – we will do everything, everything to be qualified for the next round, but if we don’t succeed, it will be a disappointment for everyone but it is not a disaster.

“Don’t forget this team only exists for three months, so I think we did a fantastic job until now, but we want more. We want more, everyone wants more, the players, the staff.”
