De Reuck – Why Bafana Are Thriving Under Broos
Bafana Bafana defender Rushine De Reuck has explained why the national team have been doing well under Hugo Broos ahead of today’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia.
Broos’ men beat the East African country 3-1 at Bahir Dar Stadium last Saturday to strengthen their lead at the top of Group G. They are currently on 7 points, one point ahead of Ghana, who play Zimbabwe away later today.
SA will host Ethiopia at the FNB Stadium at 18:00, in the presence of 2 000 spectators after the minister of Cogta, Dr. Nkosazana Clarice Dlamini Zuma had approved the decision.
“Yeah team spirit is very high in the team, we all want to achieve the same thing and that is good, to qualify. But we need to take it one game at a time and that is what we’re doing,” De Reuck told reporters.
“We’re all working hard helping each other, collectively and we know that if we do that it’s really possible to qualify. We just need to continue going where we left and hopefully having fans back we will get the results.”
The Mamelodi Sundowns centre-back also says that the they are happy under Belgian tactician, and everybody is ready to play for him.
“He gives us the freedom to play, everybody is happy with him the way he put the team, everybody understands what they need to do on the field,” he said.
“And I feel like if you have that and you have a coach who believes in you, and then you’re fighting for the team we want him to succeed, and he wants us to succeed as well.
“So it’s easy to play for him because we want to do well for him as I said.
“The mood in the camp everybody is happy just to play for him, hopefully we can continue to do well and obviously having access in the team it’s special, it’s the new generation we want to create our own legacy and that’s what we trying to do.”
