Petition For Ghana-Bafana Replay Signed By Over 65 000
A petition to “force FIFA to act against match fixing and replay the Ghana vs South Africa match” has reached over 65 000 signatures.
South Africans are not just watching on the sidelines and are fighting the elimination of Bafana Bafana from the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Hugo Broos’ side lost 1-0 to Ghana on Sunday, with the only goal scored following a questionable penalty.
The result saw the Black Stars overtake Bafana on the Group G and qualify for the playoff-round. However, many in South Africa have cried foul-play after several dubious decision by Senegalese match official Maguette Ndiaye.
A petition to have the match replayed, launched by South African Thato Majola has reached 68 899 signatures (as of Wednesday morning, 9:30) and is just 6 000 short of reaching 75 000.
“We call upon FIFA’s ethics committee to investigate the Senegalese referee for possible match manipulation and influencing the result of a football match. We also call on FIFA to order a replay of the match in question at a neutral venue and appoint a refer from one of the Arab nations,” reads a statement on Change.org.
“Failure to replay the match will mean the World Cup Finals in Qatar, the first in the middle east will always be tainted with suspicions of corruption and match fixing.”
At 75 000 signature, the petition would become on of the top signed on Change.org. If you want to sign the petition, you can click on THIS LINK!
