Seven Zim Players To Miss Bafana Clash

Bafana Bafana’s Group G opponents Zimbabwe will be without seven of their key players when they take on South Africa in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier tonight.

The Warriors have had a campaign to forget so far, only collecting one point – in the reverse fixture against South Africa – while losing the other three games.

They have also only scored one goal in their four matches and as a consequence, Zimbabwe are without a chance to still top Group G and qualify for the next round.

However, all comments from the Zimbabwe camp insist that they are taking their final two qualifiers very seriously.

However, Warriors’ interim coach Norman Mapeza will be without several key players for the clash against South Africa tonight.

Captain Knowledge Musona (Al-Tai), defender Teenage Hadebe (Houston Dynamo) and Ligue 1-based midfielder Marshall Munetsi (State Reims) are injured, while right-back Tendayi Darikwa (Wigan Athletic)withdrew due to family reasons.

In addition, Olympique Lyon striker Tino Kadewere was allowed to stay with his club this time round.

Centre-back Alec Mudimu (Torpedo Kutaisi) is suspended for the Bafana game, while goalkeeper Martin Mapisa (Zamora CF)  is also sidelined with an injury.

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs’ forward Khama Billiat has been named captain of the Warriors for the upcoming two qualifiers.
