South Africa will begin the qualifiers for the CAF CHAN tournament in July when they take on the Comoros Islands in the first round.
The draw for 2023 qualifiers took place on Thursday, as teams look to qualify for the finals in Algeria next year.
The tournament is for squads made up of home-based players only, and qualification will be done regionally.
The fixture against the Comoros will be played over two legs, with the first leg scheduled for 22-24 July, with the second leg to take place a week later.
The winner of that tie will then meet Mauritius or Angola in the second round, with the winners of the second round ties progressing to the final competition.
It is not yet certain who will lead Bafana’s CHAN squad, but assistant Helman Mkhalele is the likely choice.
The CHAN fixtures, which are considered full internationals by FIFA, will not fall on FIFA dates and will be in the middle of pre-season for DStv Premiership teams.
