After making his Bafana Bafana debut, Stellenbosch defender Athenkosi Mcaba has said his international call-up will motivate him to work harder.
The teenager came off the bench to win his first international senior cap in the 0-0 draw with Guinea in Belgium.
Mcaba, who only made his senior club debut at the end of last year, admits he was surprised to get a national team call-up so soon, but it has been a huge boost to his confidence.
“I was so surprised when I heard the news and I wasn’t expecting to get a national team call up so soon,” Mcaba told SAFA media.
“But it made me & my family happy and it has boosted my confidence going forward.”
