Barker Targets A Home Win Against Pirates

Stellenbosch FC coach Steve Barker has previewed their next match against Orlando Pirates, saying they will forget about the previous matches.

The Stellies side are currently second on the league standings, only five points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who still have a game in hand.

The two sides have drawn their last three direct clashes but Barker is eyeing three points at Dannie Craven Stadium today.

“So win or lose, you’ve got to get over these things quickly, refocus, big match against Orlando Pirates this coming Wednesday it’s important,” he said ahead of Pirates’ clash.

“It will be our third home game in a row, and we’ve drawn the previous two, so for me, it’s very important that we get maximum points against Pirates.

“Yeah, they sort of obviously, we all know, Pirates have got individual quality in the team to win any football game. And we can’t look too much into the inconsistencies, but rather focus on what we need to be doing, and being aware of the sort of challenges that they can provide us.

“But in saying all of that, I feel, for the first time in this league, that we can go into a game against Pirates and feel confident that we can get maximum points.”

Stellenbosch will battle for the three points in the DStv Premiership clash against the Buccaneers at Danie Craven Stadium on Wednesday at 17:30.
