Barker – There’s Few Points To Play For
Stellenbosch Head Coach Steve Barker says they need to to turn their good performances of late, into good results, starting with their DStv Premiership match against Swallows on Tuesday.
With recent results not going their way, Stellenbosch have found themselves pulled into a battle at the bottom of the table, and they are currently 14th, just one point ahead of Chippa United.
However a victory in this game, could see them climb as high as 11th, so Barker is hoping that Stellies can become just the second team to beat Swallows in the league this season
“Swallows have had a good season thus far,” Barker told the club’s media department.
“They have done themselves really proud to be in the position they are, and it’s going to be a difficult game, we all know that they’ve only lost one game the whole season.
“However, we understand the importance of this fixture, we understand that there’s few points to play for. And in the position that we are, is obviously very precarious.”
“So we’re very mindful of our situation, which demands a response each and every time we don’t get a positive result that we work hard to get, our responses has to be even greater.”
“So, the mood in the campus is upbeat and everybody’s understanding of what needs to be done, we’ve prepared well for the match against Swallows, and I do believe that the commitment of the players is of a very high level.”
“Our recent performance have been good, however, we need to turn those good performances into results. So a hugely important game for us as a club this season and one that we have to go there and get maximum points.
