Barker – They Showed Their Ability

Stellenbosch Head Coach Steve Barker was delighted to get a second away win in a row, when the beat Baroka 3-1 yesterday.

Stellenbosch had beaten Cape Town City on the weekend, and Barker was pleased to follow that up with another win, that saw them go above Baroka on the DStv Premiership table, and into 9th spot.

Barker says that there was only one team on the field after Baroka opened the scoring, and he was proud of what his team delivered

“Yeah, I think they started really strong, I thought the first 10 minutes we were under a bit of pressure, we fortunately were able to deal with it,” Barker said after the game.

“Obviously, the weather came and played a bit of a role, we went in after 20 minutes and just were able to regroup and just have a bit of a chat. Came out, didn’t go to plan with them getting the goal, but I thought thereafter there was only one team on the pitch.”

“Our desire, our commitment, the focus, some of the quality we played, the goals we scored. And I’m just really proud of what the players done, and they showed their ability and capability in the last two matches.”

“You know, back-to-back wins in this league is never easy. And so ja, really proud of what we were able to achieve today.”

“It’s never easy away to Baroka. But I really thought we showed some real quality today. And hopefully, you know, that’s a turning point of a season, the last two games and now we can go ahead, still a lot of work to be done. But we can at least approach itt with a lot more confidence and a lot more belief.”
