Bartlett – Why I left Galaxy
Former assistant coach Shaun Bartlett says it was a mutual agreement between him and TS Galaxy following his departure.
The former Golden Arrows and AmaTuks coach, who also served as assistant coach at Kaizer Chiefs resigned from his position at TS Galaxy on Wednesday.
Bartlett, who was recommended by former club coach Owen Da Gama, joined the Rockets in January this year after parting ways with Amakhosi in September last year.
“Obviously, it was more mutual agreement and we actually finalizing the whole process now regarding that and yeah I’m pretty much leaving TS Galaxy,” Bartlett told Thomas Mlambo on the Ultimate Sports Show.
“I think it’s pretty much on the verge of being finalized. I would probably say in the next day or so. We will have a decision.
“You know, I think the nature of the business is I went to TS Galaxy with Coach Owen Da Gama, he was released few weeks ago.
“Obviously at the time, the chairman requested me to be the interim coach till the new coach comes in, which in the meantime has happened, and he brought his own assistant.
“So others off the club, we can come to a mutual agreement and terminate. So the new coach and the system can obviously continue their duties and me leave the club.”
The former Bafana Bafana, though, insisted that the club and chairman Tim Sukazi wanted him to stay longer at the club.
“Yeah, I think there were plans obviously to, for me to be there longer,” he continued.
“I’ve obviously assessed the situation and, and so myself, maybe it’s not feasible for me to say that the chairman in the club definitely did want me to stay longer.
“And like any other club, always give gratitude towards the chairman and Galaxy for giving me the opportunity to be there. So it was a good eight, nine months.”
