Baxter Gives Chiefs Injury Update

Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has confirmed that Dumisani Zuma and Leonardo Castro are back in training while Kgaogelo Sekgota is an option for the upcoming league match against SuperSport United.

Baxter, though, also confirmed that Samir Nurkovic and Cole Alexander are still sidelined, with the former traveling home to continue his rehab near his sick father.

Amakhosi are ninth in the DStv Premiership table and will face unbeaten SuperSport United on Sunday.

“We’ve got to wait the normal time for Samir (Nurković). Samir has been given permission to go home with his father, who is seriously ill,” Baxter said.

“We’ve arranged for his rehabilitation to take place there. We think that’s the best thing to do humanely and also it doesn’t affect Samir’s return.

“(Dumsani) Zuma is looking good. He is back in training. Leo Castro is starting to kick a ball and be with us again.

“We’ve got a couple that is getting there. Cole (Alexander) is still missing, but we’re not going to gamble on him. He will be ready in a week’s time.

“KG (Kgaogelo Sekgota) is ready. He has been training, he’s looking very explosive. Does he have 90 minutes in him? No. But it’s a little bit like what we had with Keagan. He’s fit enough to be on the bench, he’s a very good impact player to have around.”
