Baxter Reacts To Chiefs Win
Stuart Baxter has reacted to Kaizer Chiefs’ first win of the 2021/22 DStv Premiership campaign.
The Englishman saw his side start their game on fire, with Khama Billiat and Daniel Cardoso giving Amakhosi a 2-0 first-half lead.
However, Baroka pulled one back in the second half as the Glamour Boys wasted many chances.
“I think the first half at times it’s been a long time since this stadium saw this sort of attacking play,” he told SuperSport TV.
“We could’ve been up 5-0 but we didn’t and then when they score, there is a panic. I didn’t like that, I didn’t like that mental looseness in the second half.
“Yes, we had chances to go 3-1 and we had chances to kill the game but we didn’t and then the game lives like that.
“But the three points put us in a more comfortable position. However, the work to be done.”
Baxter elaborated some more on the change of game in the second half.
“The game turned into a long-ball, second-ball game. Credit to Baroka, they turned it physical,” he added.
“There are a lot of things that we can do better to counter that sort of football, but we didn’t.”
Chiefs return to DStv Premiership action on 12 September when they will face defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
