There were good victories for a number of the favourites at the 2022 Bayhill Premier Cup at Erica Park, Belhar in Cape Town.
After good wins on day two, Ubuntu Academy and Stellenbosch both kept up their winning runs, as Ubuntu beat FC Real 2-1, while Stellies were 5-0 victors over Dinokeng Academy.
Cape Town Spurs meanwhile beat Panorama 2-0 for their second successive victory as well, as did Virginia Academy who beat City Strikers 2-1.
After suffering a 1-0 defeat to FN Rangers on day two, Cape Town City bounced back with a comprehensive 5-0 win over Pine Stars. City take on Greenwood on Saturday, knowing a win will book their spot in the knockout rounds.
Meanwhile in the main game of the day after the official opening ceremony, defending champions Highlands Park and D&G Orient played to a goalless draw.
Saturday will see the last round of group games played throughout the morning, before the round of sixteen kicks off in the afternoon.
