Benni Hits Back At ‘Doubters & Haters’

AmaZulu Head Coach Benni McCarthy says the ‘Doubting Thomas’s’ and critics have always motivated him throughout his career.

McCarthy was speaking to the media in a digital press conference after his winning his second successive Coach of the Month award.

The former Cape Town City coach has been a revelation since joining AmaZulu, and has taken the club up to second place in the DStv Premiership race.

However when McCarthy was appointed at AmaZulu, and for that matter in his first coach role at City, there were many who doubted whether the former Bafana Bafana striker had what it took to be a coach.

McCarthy was asked if his achievement this season and winning awards like this, ‘proved the ‘Doubting Thomas’s’ wrong?’

“You know, the critics are my biggest support,” McCarthy responded to the question.

“They’re the ones that drive me, they’re the ones that motivates me, they’re the ones that makes me just to prove what I’m worth.

“I wouldn’t have had the career that I did, if I didn’t have doubters and haters out there, because they’re my biggest inspiration.

“Because I do what they were never capable of doing in their lifetime.

“So I need them, more than they need me.”

“So yep. Thank you, Thomas.”
