After Kaizer Chiefs qualified for the CAF Champions League group stages yesterday, Khama Billiat says credit must to go the technical team and the club management for the effort they put in.
Billiat was speaking after Chiefs’ 1-0 away win in Angola against Primeiro de Agosto, which saw Chiefs reach the group stages of the Champions League for the first time.
Billiat, who won the competition with Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016, says it was a big effort, and now they want to see how far they can go in the competition as they test themselves against the best from the continent.
“It’s a great feeling, we want to thank God for giving us this opportunity,” Billiat told Chiefs’ media department.
“I think credit goes to the technical team, the entire team for their preparation. And coming down with the charter, we really appreciate (it) you know, the whole effort the Chairman is putting in the guys and everyone.
“It’s really important for us as well to go and test ourselves with the rest of the Champions League giants.”
“It really gives us confidence as well, going back to our domestic competition.”
“We really want to go all the way, we want to make a difference, we want to push ourselves to the limit and to see how far we can go and how far we can compete in Africa.”
“We give credit to the guys, we worked so hard, we stuck to the plan and it wasn’t easy.”
“It’s going to be really tough, but we can only learn and grow as a team and make sure we gel together and fight for one another.”
