Blom – We’re Not Gonna Underestimate Them

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Njabulo Blom says they will not take their CAF Champions League quarter-final opponents Simba lightly, as they prepare to face them at the FNB Stadium in the first leg on Saturday.

Chiefs have reached the CAFCL quarter-finals for the first time in their history, and while the club has struggled in the DStv Premiership this season, Blom says they are very proud of what they’ve done in the Champions League.

“Obviously it was the first time we qualified for the knockouts and obviously on the group stage it wasn’t easy, it was very difficult because we had to face eleven opponents on the field, also the referees were not on our side, so I think as a team like we are really proud of ourselves,” Blom told Chiefs’ media department.

“Yes, we’re not doing well locally, but we just want to keep the positive mindsets going forward to tomorrow’s game we really working hard and we hoping for us to get good results.”

Blom says they need to be wary of their Tanzanian opponents, and do their best to get a positive result at home.

“They are a good team, and we are not gonna underestimate them. We gonna go there to work hard. Obviously, we have to make sure we don’t concede any goals at home. And we have to make sure that we score more goals at home so that we can get maximum points away.

“I’ve been on Instagram and I’ve seen that they are a good quality team. They topped their group and they beat Al Ahly, which is a good team in Africa. So I think they are a quality team and a strong team.”
